History and description

Allianz Stadium, commonly known as Juventus Stadium, replaced the old Stadio Delle Alpi, which had only been the home of the club since 1990. Juventus fans had never warmed up to Delle Alpi though, with most complaints involving the distance between stands and pitch, poor sightlines and lack of atmosphere. As early as 2003, Juventus started making plans to build a new stadium. After they had bought Delle Alpi from the city of Turin, they moved to Stadio Olimpico di Torino in anticipation of returning to a new home in a few years time.

Demolition of Delle Alpi started in 2008 and soon after construction on the new stadium began. The Juventus Stadium officially opened on 8 September 2011 with a match between Juventus and Notts County (1-1). Notts County had been chosen because of the historic ties the clubs have had since 1903 when Englishman and Juventus player John Savage arranged for Juventus to wear the black-and-white kit that Notts County traditionally play in.

The 2014 Europa League final was held at Juventus Stadium between Sevilla and Benfica. The match ended in a 0-0 draw, and was decided on penalties by the Spanish side.

In 2017, the club announced a six-year naming rights sponsorship deal with insurer Allianz. As a result, the new name of the stadium is Allianz Stadium of Turin.

How to get to Allianz Stadium

The Allianz Stadium is located in the north of Turin, approximately 7 kilometers from Turin's city center and main Porta Nuovo railway station. Go south on Via Montecarlo. The stadium is on your left after about 500 meters. The stadium is located south of Turin's semi ring road, the Tangenziale. Take exit Venaria from the northern section of the road. Go south on Via Montecarlo and then turn left onto Via delle Terme di Caracalla. The stadium will be on your left after about 500 meters.

Matchdays, a special tram service (line 9) connects the stadium with metro stop Bernini. Bernini can be reached with metro line 1 from Turin train stations Porta Nuova and Porta Susa.

The stadium can be reached by bus on non-matchdays from the city centre. From Via 20 Settembre, take bus 72 or 72b in the direction of Viale Bruno Sper. or Picco. The journey takes almost forty minutes and the buses also pass train station Porta Susa.

Address: Corso Gaetano Scirea 50, Torino

Eat, sleep, and drink near Allianz Stadium

The Allianz Stadium is located in a residential area outside of the city of Turin. Juventus opened a new shopping centre, Area12, with a few food outlets nearby. There are few options to eat or drink around the stadium, and it may be better to do so in the city's pleasant central district. The newly opened Hotel Master is located right next to the stadium and has received good reviews. It is also reasonably affordable compared to hotels located near the Tangenziale. Hotel Galant, a road-side hotel near the Tangenziale, is comparable and may be a better choice for some travelers.

However, if you are staying in Turin for more than one day, it is likely that you would be happier staying at a hotel closer to the city centre. Picking a hotel near Porta Susa station may be convenient in terms of public transportation to the stadium, but there are other options available near Turin's other main station, Porta Nuova.

Juventus Tickets

Tickets for Juventus game can be bought online, by phone, or at one of the Listicket sales points. If you want to buy tickets at a sale point, you need to have a Tessera del Tifoso fan card. The Juventus Stadium has seen high demand for tickets ever since it first opened, with many matches staying close to a sell-out. This means that it is highly recommended to book tickets as far in advance as possible. Sales for tickets usually happen two weeks beforehand.

If the match is sold out or if you wish to purchase tickets more than a few days in advance, you can resort to ticket websites such as viagogo. These websites offer a reliable alternative and take care of the personalization of the tickets where necessary. Of course, prices will generally be higher than face value.

Price ranges for tickets typically depend on the opponent, with tickets starting at ?30.00 for a seat behind one of the goals and going up to ?105.00 for the central seats at the long sides. Other seats at the sides tend to range between ?65.00 and ?95.00.

Stadium tours

The Juventus Stadium houses the Juventus Museum, which showcases the history of the club. The club also organises guided stadium tours that include access to the dressing rooms, players' tunnel and media areas. The museum opens every day except Tuesdays from 10:30 am to 6:00 pm and until 7:30 pm on the weekends.

On Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays tours run at 11AM, 12:30PM, 2:45PM, and 4:15PM. On Saturday and public holidays tours run every half hour between 11AM and 5:30PM. However, it is advised to check current timetables on Juventus' official website.

Tickets can be booked online or at the Ticket Office at the stadium. The cost of admission to the museum is ?15.00, and the cost of a combined tour and museum ticket is ?22.00.

It is a nice stadium, very compact for its capacity and I'm sure would hold a decent atmosphere if you attend the right game. As for the ticket portal - [it is] chaotic would describe it. I found tickets continued to come on sale right up to the day we left for Italy so if you miss out initially it is worth checking again every day.

The only minor downside of the stadium is that there are four cables in the corners which restrict views to a minimum degree. The fans constantly sing, which is worth the high ticket prices because it's usually sold out. Alternatively, 41,000 people in an 80,000-seat stadium would be much worse.

The stadium is easily one of the ten best stadiums in Europe. The architecture, perfect view, and sound make it a great place to watch a game. However, the view is hindered slightly by the four cables in the corners. Fans sing constantly at this stadium, which is a nice touch. The tickets are expensive, but worth it given the atmosphere and experience you can get at this stadium.

I went to see Juventus play Lazio in 2012. Tickets are often sold out, but I looked at Listicket for a general sale date. Therefore, I managed to buy 2 tickets for 45 Euros each. The stadium is easily reached by public transport. You will need an ID or passport to gain access to the stadium! The atmosphere at the Juventus stadium is great and it's a great city to visit!
