Clermont Foot

Clermont Foot Auvergne 63 is a French football club based in Clermont-Ferrand, the capital of the Puy-de Dôme department in the Auvergne region. Formed under the name ASCLERMANT, it merged with Stade CLERMONTOIS and other local clubs in 1984 to form FC Clermont, which went bankrupt. The club was re-established under new management in 1990. The ordinal number 63 represents the club's location in the 64 French departments - Puy de Dome is no exception! The original introductory text describes how this particular brand strives for growth by adding two other successful sports teams to its portfolio while at the same time asserting its identity preserves the use of only one word: "63.

The club colors are red and blue. The president of this football club, Claude Michy, caused a first in May 2014 when he hired ex-Portuguese player Helena Costa as coach of the men's team - making her the first woman ever to do so! She was born abroad, but that hasn't stopped regional talent like her from ascending to Europe's top divisions here in France with Régis Brouard as assistant (he replaced him early last year).

When Costa stepped down from coaching, Corinne Diacre took over as head coach. An international player, she holds both a football coaching license and national coaching licence, which has enabled her to guide many French clubs to excellence, including the women's team Clermont Foot!
