History and description

The stadium was inaugurated on August 26, 1967. The Estadi Ciutat de València was built as a replacement for Levante's old Estadio de Vallejo. First plans were made in the late 1950s, but it took over ten years for plans to get approved and construction to start. The stadium was inaugurated on August 26, 1967. The Estadi Ciutat de Valencia opened on September 9, 1969 with a friendly between Levante and Valencia. The visitors won the match.

The stadium formerly known as Estadio Antonio Román, in honour of the club president at that time, had a capacity of 30,000. In order to strengthen the bond between the club and city, it subsequently changed its name to Nou Estadi.

Major refurbishments of the stadium were carried out in 2016 and 2020, with the main focus on replacing all seats. Plans for a larger renovation which would include the construction of a roof over the stands, the addition of hospitality facilities, and a refurbishment of the interior were first made in 2015. Construction works on the roof started in 2020.

How to get to Estadi Ciutat de Valencia

The Estadi Ciutat de Valencia is located in the north-east of the city of Valencia, closer to the historic city centre than to the main railway station. The walk from Valencia's cathedral to the stadium will take about 30 minutes. There are various ways to get to the stadium by public transportation.

From the railway station, you can take Metro Line 3 (red) to get to the stadium. Take the metro from, for example, stop Xativa, Colon, or Alameda in the direction of Rafelbunyol, and get off at stop Machado. The ride will take only 10 minutes and it is a further 5-minute walk from the metro to the stadium.

An alternate option is the bus 70. Take the bus at Pl. de Ajuntament, Palau de Justicia, or from the former Turia riverbed, and get off at stop Alfahuir - Cercle de Belles Arts. Buses go at least every 20 minutes. Bus 11 can be taken from the same points. Get off at stop Santiago Rusinol.

Tram 3 stops at the bottom of the hill in front of the stadium, but only connects with destinations in the southwestern part of the city. The tram 6 stops right in front of the stadium, but it only connects with destinations in the eastern part of the city. The tram 3 stops at the bottom of the hill in front of the stadium, but it only connects with destinations in the southwestern part of the city.

The stadium is located between Ronda Sud (south-western ring road) and Avenida de la Constitución (Constitution avenue). If arriving by car from the Autovia V-21/E15 (north-east), take the ring road First Road/Northeastern Ring Road at entering the city. Follow until you see the stadium on the left side of the road. The stadium is located between Ronda Sud (south-western ring road) and Avenida de la Constitución (Constitution avenue).

If you are entering the city from the south or west, follow the signs for Ronda Nord. When you reach the stadium on your right, follow it until you reach your destination.

Eat, drink, and sleep near Estadi Ciutat de Valencia

Estadi Ciutat de Valencia is located in a residential area on the outskirts of the city. There are few bars or restaurants near by, so it is better to eat and drink in Valencia's historic center or at the beaches. It's also considerably more expensive. If you want to stay close to the stadium, Hotel Olympia Valencia is a good option. It has good reviews, is reasonably priced, and is 10 minutes walking from the stadium. Hotel Olympia Universiades is another decent option a little further away, but closer to the centre. It costs more.

If you plan to spend more than a few hours in Valencia, a hotel in the central area will likely be more convenient. See here for the options.

Levante Tickets

Tickets for Levante matches can be purchased online or at the ticket windows of the stadium. Tickets can also be bought on the day of the match at the gate. Levante rarely sell out.

The ticket prices for matches against lower-level opponents depend on the opposition. Tickets for seats behind the goal range from ?15.00 for a seat to ?35.00 for a covered seat at the main stand, while tickets for top matches cost much more.

The seating map is available here. Email [email protected] for more information.

There is a large bowl-shaped structure located in the corner to the right of the covered stand. The bowl is largely uncovered, and there are a few ultras standing near it. There is no catering available at the stadium, and I do not recommend eating hot dogs here.

The large bowl with a small group of ultras in the corner to the right of the covered stand can be seen from the pitch. There is very little in terms of catering at this stadium, and I do not recommend the hot dogs.

I asked her where our seats were and she took us to the VIP lounge, showed us the Stadium and the pitch, and thanked us for making us feel so welcome. We are glad we are now Levante supporters.
