History and description

The stadium's original name was Stadio Giglio, but it was renamed in 2003 to honor the Italian national football team, which won the World Cup that year. The stadium has a capacity of 46,543 people and is located in Città del Tricolore, on the edge of the city proper. It is owned and operated by Juventus Football Club. The stadium underwent a minor refurbishment in 2012, which resulted in its name being changed to Stadio Città del Tricolore.

This agreement will make the stadium the home of Sassuolo and their fans for the next two seasons. In 2013, newly promoted Sassuolo Calcio announced that they had reached an agreement to make Stadio Città del Tricolore their home for the next two seasons. How to get to MAPEI Stadium

The stadium is located north-east of Reggio Emilia and about 2.5 kilometres from the city centre. The distance to the train station, located east of the city centre, is slightly shorter. Take bus 5 in the direction of Mancasale Fiera and get off at stop Via Duo or take bus H to Parcheggio Stadio and get off at the last stop. Bus 5 is a shorter 10-minute journey, but bus H runs more frequently. Both buses run through Reggio Emilia's historic center.

If arriving by car from the A1, leave at exit Reggio Emilia. Pass the toll booth and turn onto the roundabout. Take the second exit following the little football symbol and sign Stadio. Keep following similar signs to get to the stadium.

Eat, drink, and sleep near MAPEI Stadium

MAPEI Stadium - Citta del Tricolore is an outdoor stadium located on the edge of the city, surrounded by farmlands and a mixture of residential and commercial buildings. There is also a small waterpark located next to the stadium. The shopping mall located inside of the stadium buildings, the I Petali mall, has a food court and a few restaurants. There are a few more roadside restaurants a little further away.

However, it is a relatively new area that lacks the typical Italian charm that you can find in Reggio Emilia's pleasant city centre which has better location for eating and drinking.

If you are looking for a hotel that is very close to MAPEI Stadium, then the Holiday Inn Express Reggio Emilia, Hotel Remilia, and Hotel Cristallo are all good choices. The latter is also in easy walking distance from Reggio Emilia's city center.

Tickets for Reggiana games can be bought online through Ticketone, at Edicola & Dintorni news agent at Corso Garibaldi 47 in Reggio Emilia's city center, or at the Media World store at MAPEI Stadium. Expect to pay between ?9.00 and ?18.00 for a ticket.
