Borussia Monchengladbach

Borussia Mönchengladbach is a German sports club based in the city of Mönchengladbach. The club with the black, white and green colors advanced to the Bundesliga in 1965 after winning many championships in lower leagues such as the Oberliga Westfalen (1955) or the Gauliga Südwestpfalz/Saarland (1963). Borussia's style of play has been dubbed 'Fohlenelf', which means 'young calf', as the players were all under 25 when they joined the team - an extremely fast paced game full of charged attacks led bt.

The 1970s were the greatest in the club's history. During this time, the team won all 5 German championship titles: 1970 and 1971 and 1975 to 1977. Only Bayern Munich managed such a hat-trick in the Bundesliga!

The two UEFA Cup victories also fell during this period: in the 1975 final against Twente Enschede and in 1979 against Red Star Belgrade. This can all be attributed to the Colts' strong performances on the European stage, which would continue in the following years as they reached the final at least two more times, but lost both times after scoring an early goal just once per game before losing 3-2 and 1-0 to Liverpool FC (Liverpool had won their first five games).

Mönchengladbach also reached the final of the European Champion Clubs' Cup: 1977 in Rome against Liverpool FC. Allan Simonsen scored the equalizer, but in the end they lost 3-1. Located west of Düsseldorf, Germany's M°ønchieg Laätbuch (or better known as Gladbach) football club has been playing football since 1899 when it was founded by workers at the Aachen Steelworks looking for something to do during the winter break; today there are over 70 teams like.

They run Borussia VfL 1900 Mönchengladbach GmbH, the club's professional football department. The two DFB-Pokal successes of 1960 and 1995 (and one more) are not that long ago - they were born in the 1970s when German sides began attending UEFA after their application for full membership was approved in 1954 competitions, and also made waves in southern Germany where fans flocked, although until then they had no real history before eventually becoming regulars, especially on a national level during this period which everyone outside of the Berlin area did allowed that.
